I hate Taylor Swift: Donald Trump after pop star endorses Kamala Harris

Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump on Sunday expressed his disappointment with Taylor Swift and said that he “hates her” days after the pop star openly endorsed the former’s Democratic rival Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential elections.
“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump said on Truth Social, his social media website.
Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in an Instagram post immediately following last Tuesday’s presidential debate.
Swift praised the Vice President, describing her as a “steady-handed” and “gifted leader”. She emphasised that under such leadership, Americans have the potential to achieve far greater things, stating, “We can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm, not chaos.”
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” the pop star said.
Soon after her announcement, Trump said Swift has always endorsed a Democrat, and she will probably “pay a price for it in the marketplace”.
“I was not a Taylor Swift fan, it was just a question of time. She couldn’t, uh, you couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him,” the former President said in an interview with Fox & Friends.
“But she’s [Swift] a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” he added.
Even Tesla CEO Elon Musk took a pot shot at pop star Taylor Swift for endorsing Kamala Harris. The tech billionaire said that “I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life”, a dig at the singer signing off her endorsement post with, “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”.
“Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk tweeted.
Swift, who has over 283 million followers on Instagram, signed off her post, which included a picture of the singer with a cat, with “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”, in an apparent dig at remarks previously made by Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance about women without children.
In a recently resurfaced 2021 interview, JD Vance, who was a Senate candidate at the time, expressed frustration with the state of US leadership.
He objected to the fact that the country was being governed by Democrats, corporate oligarchs, and what he referred to as “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too”.
